On Track and Coaching
On Track (U6-U8) and Coaching (U8-U16) sessions are included in the Summer (Track and Field) season weekly programs.
Remember to bring drink bottles, hats, sunscreen to coaching and arrive 10 mins before the session starts.
Coaching sessions are at our home track (unless otherwise specified), Central Reserve, Glen Waverley.
Coaching is open to all WLAC athletes.
Coaching sessions are optional (but recommended) with some training sessions incurring an extra fee. Please see descriptions below for more details.
Parents are required to stay for coaching.

Coaching Season 2020-21 - now finished
We are finally able to offer some mid week coaching. These sessions are best for U9 and above athletes. Please come 10 mins before the sessions start, to sign in. We will be following COVIDsafe rules.
Suitable for U9 and above, regardless of ability.
All our coaches are qualified and are happy to accommodate any coaching requests.
Remember COVIDsafe protocols. When arriving, to sanitise hands and fill out attendance form. Hands to be sanitized before and after touching equipment, and all equipment is wiped/sprayed after use with disinfectant. Do not attend if feeling unwell, waiting for COVID19 test results, isolating, been in contact with someone who is awaiting a test result or is isolating, quarantining after returning from a hot spot or attending a venue as listed on DHHS website.
Please check our website and Facebook pages in case of cancellations due to wet or very hot weather. Bring water bottles, hats, sunscreen, lots of enthusiasm!!!

Junior Development Squad (JDS) - LAVic program for U12 - U16
JDS is an Little Athletics Victoria program aimed at giving our talented athletes a little more in terms of coaching, education, competition and a sense of accomplishment. The squad is open to all registered athletes from U12 to U16 that meet the performance criteria. Starting in early October and concluding late August of the following year, the program consists of numerous activities including coaching days, alternate coaching sessions, coaching camp, education sessions, role model sessions with elite athletes and a presentation ceremony.
Note: U11 athletes may qualify during the season in readiness to be eligible to join JDS at the beginning of their U12 year.

Simone's Summer Season Coaching with Athletics Waverley (our senior club) -
Coaching will focus on a different discipline each week giving athletes a chance to practice their skills in a variety of athletic events. All levels of athletes welcome. No previous experience necessary.
Winter Season Coaching with Athletics Waverley (our senior club) - to be confirmed
Athletics Waverley is offering free training sessions to local secondary school students interested in improving their running for the school cross country events next term.
The sessions will be on Thursday nights at the Waverley Athletics Track at Central Reserve, Glen Waverley (corner of Waverley and Springvale Roads). The sessions will cover technique and provide base training to help students improve their running. The sessions will be on Thursday nights in April and May starting at 6pm for approximately one hour. All standards are catered for.

Standing starts are done in all Long Distance events and by the younger age groups for all running events.
Crouch Starts are done in the sprint events, except by the younger age groups.
