Little Athletics Suspended
As of mid-March 2020, all Little Athletics events have been suspended or cancelled due to Covid19. Our season came to a grinding halt which was a great shame. The State and National Championships were cancelled, along with all other sporting events
In line with directives from Little Athletics Australia, Little Athletics Victoria and the Government, there will be no Cross Country events at all in 2020, or at the very least, the LAVic State Cross Country Championships May be held if Government restrictions are lifted.
All training groups have also been suspended and Monash Council has locked down the clubrooms, restricting access during the lock down period.
The Committee has not met since the AGM due to social distancing laws and other reasons, but once we do meet we will be discussing the 2020/21 season and what we can do to help the Waverley families leading into the Summer season.
We are here for our members and we will do what ever we can to ensure we can provide your children with sport on the other side of Covid19.
Please follow all government directions, stay safe and we will see you once all of this is over. Remember to check our website and Facebook page for any updates as they come through.

Little Athletics is a Centre based Track & Field competition for children aged between 5 and 15. For more details check out What is Little Athletics?
Waverley Little Athletics Centre is based at Central Reserve Athletics Track in Glen Waverley, is affiliated with Little Athetics Victoria and is part of the Southern Metropolitan Region (SMR). Not near Glen Waverley? Find your nearest Centre.
Because Little Athletics is a totally voluntary organisation, the Centre cannot operate without the assistance of parents each week in fulfilling the many and varied duties required. These include officiating at an event; managing an age group; recording results; working in the canteen; to name just a few. Additional assistance is always required on the Centre committees and all parents are encouraged to become involved. Little Athletics is one of the few sports where parents can become fully involved in their child's sporting interests.

28/05/2020 - Stawell Gift
News regarding the 2020 Stawell Gift!
The 2020 Stawell Gift will not be rescheduled in the 2020 calendar year. The event was postponed in March due to the impacts of COVID-19, and at an executive meeting this week it was unanimously decided to cancel the Gift for 2020.
While the cancellation of the iconic race is disappointing for participants, spectators, partners and suppliers, planning for Easter 2021 is already underway and the Gift will return bigger and better next year under the direction of a new Committee of Management.
The new Committee will work together to drive collaboration between key event partners, enhance the event experience for athletes and spectators and the local community to grow participation, and deliver greater economic impact for the region.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Stawell next year for the running of the 139th Stawell Gift.
26/05/2020 - Corona Virus Update
The following statement is from the Monash City Council, for residents of the area.
Monash Council welcomes the State Government’s announcement of a further cautious easing of restrictions that means outdoor playgrounds, libraries, community facilities and youth centres can reopen with a limited number of patrons at one time.
Outdoor playgrounds, skateparks and communal gym equipment will reopen from Tuesday 26 May but people must continue to practise social distancing, hand hygiene and common sense.
From 1 June, libraries, youth centres, community facilities and galleries (including Monash Gallery of Art) will reopen with no more than 20 people allowed in a single area, plus those needed to operate the space as Victoria moves into the next phase of a "new normal."
The message from government remains that if you don’t have to do something that’s not essential, don’t do it and stay home.
Mayor Councillor Stuart James said Council was excited to welcome back the community to its facilities and services but said people would need to observe the social distancing and hygiene measures required whilst accessing these services.
“We can’t wait to see the community back at our places like libraries and community centres but it’s important to remember we must still be vigilant and follow the government guidelines to avoid further spread of COVID-19,” Cr James said.
“We will be acting in strict accordance with the protocols and have in place information and signage to ensure people know what they need to do to keep themselves, their families and our staff safe.
“It has been a tough time for the community and we want to thank everyone for their patience and commitment during these restrictions. It’s because of these efforts together that we can move forward to getting us back to as much normality as possible.
”We’ve all done so well to follow the restrictions in Monash but let’s not waste that great work. Please continue to do the right thing by everyone, follow the social distancing and hygiene measures and let’s all work together to stay safe.”
More information as it comes to hand will be available on our website, social media and newsletters.
