Mark Dobson

Mark Dobson is a Key Official at the Waverley Little Athletics Centre Inc.

Life Membership Nomination 2025/26:

The Dobson family have been a stalwart at Waverley Little Athletics Centre for many years. They first joined with their three boys, Evan and twins Matthew & Thomas in Season 2015/16. Neetasha was our registrar for many years and was awarded a Life Membership in 2021/22.

Though Mark did not join the committee, he was actively involved in our sessions on Saturday mornings, for well over 10 years now.

He first started as the sprint track timekeeper, with the old “Tassie” gates, making sure all is working for each race and printing out the race tickets. After Neetasha finished her registrar duties, she often assisted Mark at the timing box. Again, Mark was one of those parents who stepped up from the start and actively helped out with the sprint timing from Season 2015/16 to 2021/22.

Then Mark came to his own, showing off his culinary skills being our BBQue Manager, from Season 2023/24 to present. He sourced the best sausages, bacon and eggs, making sure quality and Australian made were his priorities. Then at the Twilights, his hamburgers were world class and sold out each time, much to the disappointment of those who missed out. The BBQue (& canteen) are important fundraisers for our centre during the summer season, and by taking on this role, Mark made sure they were successful.

Mark also showed off his photographic skills at various times, taking photos during the Sat morning sessions or the Region/Mentone relay events, when his boys attended.

He also helped out at some school bookings, especially for the Mt View Primary School, running the sprint track timing with the old “Tassie” gates. He went above and beyond after one of these sessions helping to pack up in the rain and vacuuming the athletics pavilion because it was so dirty.

Over the last ten years, Mark has made positive contributions to our centre by being very supportive, both in action and ideas. The requirements for Life Membership, as stipulated in the Centre’s Life Membership Policy, have well and truly been covered by Mark Dobson and he is a worthy recipient.
