John Hatt*

John Hatt was the Grandfather of President and Life Member Dylan Cooper, Ashlee Cooper and Harley Caruana. He was often at Waverley volunteering during his grandchildren's time as athletes and during Dylan's time on the WLAC Committee.

During Dylan, Ashlee and Harley's years as athletes at the Waverley Little Athletics Centre, John would drive Dylan to and from training during the week, volunteer his time as an age group helper at competitions, helped Dylan as an early set up official while he was Equipment Manager, assisted with some school carnivals, helped move equipment for SMR and being an official at Region Relays one year. John also provided his support and experience when Dylan took over as President in 2012.

John was born on 23/06/1931 and passed away peacefully at 6:03am on 11/12/2015 in the company of family members after a long battle with dementia. He was survived by his wife, 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Married for 59 years, John had a fantastic life, spending it raising his children and grandchildren and volunteering for countless years across a number of organisations. He volunteered at the Red Cross, Springvale Little Athletics Centre, Noble Park Bowls Club, Noble Park RSL, Noble Park Football Club, Noble Park Football Club Christmas Party, BINGO, Tai-Chi, and much more. John was also a Netball Coach for Killester College when his daughters attended the school in the 1970's and 1980's. He also assisted when his granddaughter Ashlee attended the school in the late 2000's. He also coached his daughters senior netball teams for many years when they played for various local teams.

For his extensive voluntary contribution, John was awarded inaugural Life Membership of the St. Anthony Little Athletics Club in 1977/78 along with his wife Eileen (former Club that made up Springvale Little Athletics Centre). He was also a Founding Member, Past President and 10 Year Service Award recipient of the Noble Park Bowls Club Inc. and was awarded Life Membership in 2004/05.

He was very proud of his achievements and the achievements of his family members.
