News - 2020/2021

To the Members and Community, both past and present, of the Waverley Little Athletics Centre Inc.,

It is with great honour to officially announce that our longest serving volunteer, WLAC Life Member & LAVic Life Governor Bruce Reynolds, has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia!
Bruce was nominated for the Order of Australia in 2020, in recognition of his 50 years’ of service and commitment to Little Athletics. The award was granted and was officially announced in the 2021 Australia Day Honours list on the website of the Governor General of Australia.

Attached is the official citation of Bruce’s service.
Bruce is our longest serving volunteer, eldest living Life Member, a living legend of the Waverley Centre and is still actively involved at the Centre. His Little Athletics journey began at the Hamersley LAC in Western Australia in 1971, before moving back to Glen Waverley and joining the Glen Waverley Club and Waverley Centre Committee in 1975. Bruce only spent 3 years on the Waverley Committee and from then on, he joined the VLAA Board of Management, volunteered at region and state championships from 1977 until 2013 and has been a Walk Judge at Waverley since 1978. For his service, Bruce was awarded Life Governor of VLAA in 1985 and Life Member of Waverley in 1997.

Bruce Reynolds OAM, on behalf of everyone, congratulations to you on your life long service to Little Athletics and the achievements you’ve accomplished. You have the respect of all fellow volunteers and your service is second to none.

Kind Regards,

Dylan Cooper
President and Life Member
