Vale John Hatt

News - 2015/2016

The following email was received from former WLAC president Dylan Cooper. John Hatt was often at Waverley assisting Dylan during Dylan's time on the WLAC committee.

Dear Mark (WLAC), Springvale LAC Committee & Everyone,
It’s with great sadness to advise that my Pop, John Bruce Hatt (23/06/1931 - 11/12/2015) passed away peacefully at 6:03am in the company of family members after a long battle with dementia.
He is survived by his wife, 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He fought for every last breath, and waited for us to wake up before he took his final breath. Married to Nan for 59 years, he had a fantastic life, spending it raising his children and grandchildren, volunteering at the Red Cross, little athletics, noble park bowls club, BINGO, and much more.
John was a Life Member of St. Anthony Little Athletics Club (former Club that made up Springvale Little Athletics Centre), and a Founding Member, Life Member and Past President of the Noble Park Bowls Club Inc. He was so proud of his achievements.
John was so proud of his 12 grandchildren, who he devoted his life to looking after and spending time with. The best memories are playing golf, lawn bowls, pool table, the 19th hole, sharing a bowl of chips at the pub, going out for lunch and dinner.
During my years as an athlete and volunteering at Waverley Little Athletics Centre, John would drive me to and from training during the week, volunteer his time as an age group helper at competitions, helped me out as an early set up official while I was Equipment Manager and also assisted with some school carnivals and helped me move equipment for SMR and being an official at Region Relays one year.

The funeral service for John Hatt will be held on Thursday, 17th December 2015, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Noble Park at 11am, followed by refreshments.

May you rest in peace. Love you old man.
Kind Regards,
Dylan Cooper
