Week 9 - Waverley Games Day (Multi Event Round)

News - 2015/2016

Welcome back to athletics for this week, which is our Waverley Games Day or Multi Event Round!!  This program is based on the State Multi Event program, and anyone U9-U15 can enter - being held last weekend in January in Bendigo. More information and registration can be found at http://lavic.com.au/Competition/Events/State-Multi-Event-Championships

If you want to go to Bendigo and want to book accommodation, I'd suggest doing it now!

Key points for this week;

  • Ribbons will be presented for participation to our U6-U8 Age Groups
  • Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd,and ribbons for all other athletes, for U9- SS Age Groups
  • We will be joined by our friends from Oakleigh Little Athletics Club, as they have enjoyed previous years' events so much! Please make them feel welcome as always.

KEY OFFICIALS AND PARENT HELPERS

It's all hands on deck this week, as there will be additional venues to set up (e.g. Shot Put 3, Discus 2 & 3). If you can get there by 7.30am that would be great! As you can see the program is quite intense so we will need everyone's help to make it run smoothly.
Please as a courtesy let me know if you cannot make it this week.

CHEST PATCHES
I hate to bring this up every week, but I must insist, for all athletes, no patch, no results. If you need a temporary patch please see the team inside the clubrooms FIRST THING, not at 10am. We are asking for donations of a gold coin (Royal Children's Hospital) for any temporary patches, as this is a time consuming task for the committee, when they should be doing other things like setting up the canteen. It's $5 for a replacement patch if you have lost it.

SMR RELAYS
Well done to all who participated at last Saturday's Relays Championships. For the third year in a row, the club has been awarded the most points on the day, a great achievement indeed! (photo attached). Thanks again to Joanne, Nicol, Brad, our coaches, and all other parent helpers. Team qualification for States (Saturday December 12), will be posted on the noticeboard.

FIRST AID
We are still looking for assistance on a weekly basis - Brad and Peter have both been great, but we would like more cover. Please approach me if you can assist.

PB ICY POLE LIST
Please check the noticeboard for your child's name each week. If their name does not appear on the list, they are not eligible this time around. Please do not hassle the canteen helpers.

COMMITTEE AND CENTRE POSITIONS 2016
We are currently seeking interest for Committee and Centre positions for next season (the AGM is in March 2016). It's a great way to be involved in the decisions made by the club! Please speak to any of the current committee if you would like to know more.
