Welcome to the Little Athletics Season 2015/2016

News - 2015/2016

A warm welcome to both our returning members, and of course our new members!!

This season shapes up to be another exciting one, with a new President at the helm and your Committee having completed some fantastic work behind the scenes in readiness for the season. A few key areas below for you to know about!

REGISTRATIONS

If you haven't registered for this season, please register and pay online prior to Saturday morning.

If you have registered then please collect your 'Subway' registration patch from the pavilion, which has the athlete's name and registration number included. Also, don't forget to pick up a registration pack.

UNIFORMS

We will have uniforms for sale on the day, singlets, T-Shirts and crop tops. Please note that each athlete must have the new Jetstar sponsor's logo sewn onto their respective shirts. These can also be collected with the uniforms. Note - Cash or cheques ARE acceptable for payment of uniforms only.

WEEKLY PROGRAM

This week we are calling it an 'Induction Round', with 3-4 events per age group. See program attached.
Our objective is to educate not only new athletes, but also their parents. Next week will be Program 1.
Note this week the children will not be earning points.

KEY OFFICIALS

As always we cannot run the competition without the support of at least 100 volunteers every week. We still require people to volunteer for key positions such as Age Group Leaders, Event Managers, BBQ Chef and Canteen Manager to name a few. Without filling these roles, we cannot run a smooth and enjoyable day – please see me or any other Committee Member to register your interest.

Thank you to those people who have already generously offered their time!

SAFETY AND WELL BEING

The safety of the children and volunteers is taken very seriously at the Centre. At no stage should anyone be crossing the sprint track (in the middle of the arena), and if you are crossing the circular track you should look both ways. At throwing events, everyone should stand or sit well away from dangerous positions.

As athletics is a summer sport, we often have very warm to hot weather. Every athlete should at the very least have a hat, drink bottle and wear sunscreen – I can't emphasise these enough – children dehydrate quicker than adults.

Parents are required to remain at the Centre to supervise their children (or have appointed another adult to do this) – by signing up your child you have agreed to do this.

ANY QUESTIONS?

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask any of our Committee members.

Remember your Committee are all voluntarily giving their time to benefit the running of the Centre.
