SMR U6 to U8 Carnival 2013

News - 2013/2014

The U6 to U8 Carnival is being held at the Waverley Little Athletics Centre on Sunday 10th November 2013.
This event is open (obviously) to the U6, U7 & U8 Age Groups, so they have a chance to compete and have fun in their own competition, as those age groups don't compete at Region or State.

For the Carnival, the emphasis is on having a go, getting involved, participation and all round having fun.
We also allow and encourage the Parents to walk around with the Children's Age Groups and get involved and help run the various events and activities.

ALL Athletes who compete at the Carnival will receive a ribbon for participating in each event, a results card to write down their results at the completion of the event, a Certificate of Achievement which they can transcribe their results on to post event and a show bag with some little goodies and mementos!

Program of events is listed on the website and a proper timetable/program will be published once finalized.

In addition to the above, the event is also open to "Bring a Friend" or "School" children.
So, members please pass this flyer on to your friends.

On the day there will be a jumping castle and face painting. SMR will be running a raffle and there will be some "spot prizes" awarded.
The Annual Dragon Race will be the feature of the Lunch Break. Centres are encouraged to create their own Dragons. Teams of approx. 4-6 athletes will make up one Dragon.
Also attached is the Dragon Colouring Competition - Children can colour in the Dragon and submit it on the day so it can be displayed on the wall and Judged for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize.
Colourings can be completed on the day as well.

At Waverley LAC there will be a Coffee Van, Canteen & BBQ. So plenty to choose from for Lunch.

I mentioned above around Parents getting involved. The Carnival is a very relaxed and easy going Day. Saying that, we still require Parent Volunteers to help run the events.
When Parents enter their children, they can choose to help out on a specific duty (such as event management)... But Parents are allowed to walk around with the Age Groups and get involved with the running of various events. Eg:
They can help measure/spike/rake at Long Jump. Simple tasks such as those that will teach them the "ropes" and could lead to them feeling more comfortable in helping at their own Centres.
