Dear Parents,

Waverley has been one of few Centres in Victoria that conducts such a strong and successful Walks Program. We have done Walks since being Founded in 1968.

We are fortunate to have had 6 or 7 dedicated Walk Judges over the years, that would help the Centre every three weeks to run the Walk Program.

Most of these Judge’s children had finished with Little Aths and some Judges even come across from other Centres!!

However, we are now down to having only 4 qualified Judges at Waverley and we need a few more!

Our Chief Walk Judge is Bruce Reynolds, (who is an “A” grade Judge, Waverley Life Member & LAVic Life Governor), he has been involved with Waverley for almost 40 years and has been the back-bone of our Walks Programs.

As with all Voluntary Sporting Organizations, we rely solely on parent volunteers to help run our Programs. Without the parents help, our Sport wouldn’t exist.

To ensure and secure the future of our Walks Programs, Little Athletics Waverley is looking for at least 3 - 4 new parents or "Past Athletes" to become a Walk Judge.

Walk Judging is required every three weeks and to be comfortable to run a successful Walk Program, we require a minimum of 5 “qualified” Walk Judges.

As with all positions at Little Aths, training will need to be provided. Bruce Reynolds is prepared to give his time into training any parents who are interested.

Training as a Walk Judge is simple: It will consist of a 2 hour Theory session and When the candidate does the lecture and passes the theory exam he/she becomes a provisional D judge.

After Judging 20 walk events (races) under the supervision of an “A” or “B” grade Judge, he/she becomes a full D grade Judge.
