State Multis

News - 2011/2012

State Multi's were held over the weekend (19/20 Nov) in very wet testing conditions on Saturday and warm windy conditions on Sunday.

Thank you to everyone (parents and athletes alike) for a magnificent weekend Smile

The kids of Team Waverley certainly did us very proud with their performances, sportsmanship and behaviour.

Thanks to Team Managers Kate Sanford & Wendy Masters for their flawless work and to all parents who had duties to fulfill - which were completed without fuss and especially those that had the 6:45am "gate duties".

SPECIAL THANKS to Steven & Nicole Lopes (Meet Manager & Photo Finish Chiefs - and LAWav Life Members) and Dylan Cooper (Track Marshalling) who filled "Key Official" duties on both days from 6am - 7pm, and the enormous amount of pre planning work required in the lead up to these Championships.  These volunteers are listed as "Waverley parents" which relieves our parents of competing athletes of a number of duties !!!  We appreciate this very much Smile

RESULTS IN A NUTSHALL: 4 medals & 7 "Top 8's"  ....... awesome ........ 1st in the State for "Top 8" finishes  Smile

GOLD - Ellie Sanford u14 ..... pulled out a remarkable and very exciting and controlled 800m final race to snatch victory !

SILVER - Ellie Masters u11 ..... held the lead coming into the 800m ...... and ran "the race of her life" to attempt to hold off the exceptional "Mendes twins" from Werribee.  A big PB was required and delivered !

BRONZE - Nela Debicki u12 ...... also held on bravely in the 800m after holding 3rd coming into race.  Great tenacity was again shown and a faboulous result !

BRONZE - Saje Phillips - Snowden u9 ..... In her first State Championship experience Saje performed 4/5 PB's culminating in a super run in the 800m (where the headwind in the back straight was nearly nearly gale force).  Great determination and missed silver by 3 points only !

TOP 8 - Janita Kareta 4th (missed bronze by only 3 points) ...... a fantastic day, showing us some of her true all round talent !

          - Finlay Rennie 5th ......... in the top few all day and PB'ed across all events !

          - Ella Squires 6th ......... 1st in 100m & 2nd in hurdles !
