Week 6 - A little mushy at Tirhatuan!

News - 2010/2011

Week 6 Report

The long mushy grass was enough to put me off testing out my groin in the parents’ race ... but not so for the Waverley little athletes (and a couple of brave parents ... big cheer for Sonia and Rob) who took to the course like ducks to water!  Great to see a few familiar faces back on deck, including Tammy, our beloved President.  Congratulations to all athletes who dragged themselves out of bed to run their best at Tirhatuan.

Duty

Many thanks to Paul and Rob who completed duty at Tirhatuan (with Rob kindly stepping in at the last moment, to do 2 weeks of duty in a row ... and earning a double pass to the Waverley cinema from me as a thank you).  Thank you to everyone who emailed and offered to do the duty this weekend ... it was very encouraging ... I may need to call on more favours throughout the season. Next week the Fahey and Li families are helping at Nortons Park. Please sign in with David at the microphone a little before 9am so that the programme can begin on time.  David will allocate a duty task to you.

Nunawading Open Day

This might be a good Open Day to try to get a few Waverley athletes along to since it is so close.  I have left a message with the Nunawading CC manager to try to find out a little more about registration and I will forward an email during the week when I know more.  Perhaps we could register a couple of teams (I will try to find out if athletes can run up an age group if it means we can make up a team).

Sunday CC Races

As athletes are registered with Little Athletics Victoria, they are entitled to participate in all events operated by LAV clubs.  Clubs in the Eastern Metropolitan Region also operate CC events on Sunday (see the p. 5 of the booklet) that you are welcome to attend.

The next event is on Sunday 23rd May at Bill Stewart Athletics Track, East Burwod, Mel 62 C8 (which is in fact the Nunawading Open Day).

Training

All athletes in U9 - U15 are welcome to participate in cross country training on Wednesdays from 4.30 - 5.30 pm at Central Reserve (meet at the club rooms) with Jake.  Please note the new training time.  If athletes fall outside of these age groups, but would like to train, please contact me.
