NEW Information on LAVic State Relays Championships

News - 2020/2021

NEW Information on LAVic State Relays Championships and REMINDER about our final 'WLAC' Relay Teams Training Session #4 - THIS Wednesday (24/3/2021) from 5:00pm to 6:00pm @ Central Reserve.....

Good Afternoon 'WLAC' State Relays Families,
Information is slowly being released by LAVic in relation to the upcoming State Relays Championships, which are happening next weekend (U9-U12 on Saturday the 27th of March, 2021) (U13-U15 on Sunday the 28th of March, 2021) at Casey Fields, Cranbourne.

Please see below for some important reminders in relation to the LAVic State Relays Championships -
1.) Our fourth and final 'WLAC' State Relays Team Training Session is happening THIS Wednesday (24/3/2021) from 5pm to 6pm at our 'WLAC' Grass Track, Central Reserve. We need all of our relay runners at this final session, so we can fine tune your changes and timing in the take-over zones before next weekend.....Again, it would be greatly appreciated if available parents/guardians could help out Angela, Holly and our Age Group Relay Coordinators at this final Relay Team training session....Thanks in advance to you all for your continued support and encouragement of our relay runners at training!
2.) LAVic have released an updated schedule of 'Age Group Event Blocks' for the State Relays Championships, but we are still waiting on them to send through the final event timetable. They have also confirmed that the LAVic State Relays Championships have been given clearance to run as a Tier 2 COVIDsafe event, so they have been able to push back the start times for events on both mornings of the championships. Here is the most recent and up to date 'Age Group Event Blocks' schedule -
'Age Group Event Block' Times: Saturday the 27th of March, 2021

'Age Group Event Block' Times: Sunday the 28th of March, 2021
U13 – U14 and Multi-Class U13-U16:  10.00am – 12.35pm.

U15 – U16: 1.30pm –  3.10pm
PLEASE NOTE:  All families will be asked to sign-in using a QR Code linked registration form, that will be provided at the entrance to the venue on each day. All Little Athletes and their families will be encouraged to leave immediately after their events within their Age Group Event Block. Medal presentations will occur roughly 15mins after each Age Group Event Block ends. LAVic are asking all families to exit the venue immediately after their child(ren) have finished their events in their respective Age Group Event Block, so the next Age Group of Little Athletes and their families can enter the venue in accordance with COVID-safe guidelines.
3.) Could all families please check the attached Excel Spreadsheet with our  'FINAL'  WLAC  State Relay Teams, to see which events your child(ren) is/are competing in next weekend.
4.) Could all families please aim to arrive at least 90 minutes before the scheduled start time of their child(ren)'s age group block, so you can find a car park, enter the venue, find our Waverley team tents, touch base with your Age Group Relay Leader and then enable your child(ren) to stretch and warm-up with their relay team mates.

NOTE: The car park at Casey Fields is currently only at 50% capacity, due to a pop-up COVID Testing Site utilising the other half of the car parking spaces. There is also a Melbourne vs. Brisbane AFLW game at Casey Fields on Saturday afternoon, so it is recommended that families get to the track early to secure a car parking spot on both days.
Don't forget, relay teams must marshal at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of their event at the Call Room. Please see your Age Group Relay Leader or Katy/Mark who will be able to guide you through all the where to be's and at what time's......Katy will be our designated Team Manager on the Saturday (Apologies for my absence on this day, due to my commitments at the AFL Unity Cup Carnival) and both Katy and I (Mark) will be our designated Team Managers on the Sunday.

5.) Centre Duties - Parent/Guardian Volunteers Required
- Due to the large number of relay teams we have entered in the LAVic State Relays Championships this year, our WLAC has been asked to carry out four important Centre Duties, which we will require parents/guardians to volunteer for. Here is the list of our four Centre Duties, on both the Saturday and the Sunday of the championships -

DUTY 1 - Date (Saturday 27/3/2021) – Position (TRACK UMPIRE 2) – Time (9:30am – 11:45am) – Location (Start/Finish Line) – Report To (Chief Track Umpire) - Age Group Event Block (Under 9)

DUTY 2 - Date (Saturday 27/3/2021) – Position (TRACK UMPIRE 2) – Time (11:40am – 1:40pm) – Location (Start/Finish Line) – Report To (Chief Track Umpire) - Age Group Event Block (Under 10)

 DUTY 3 - Date (Saturday 27/3/2021) – Position (TRACK UMPIRE 2) – Time (4:15pm – 6:30pm) – Location (Start/Finish Line) – Report To (Chief Track Umpire) – Age Group Event Block (Under 12)

DUTY 4 - Date (Sunday 28/3/2021) – Position (TAKEOVER ZONE UMPIRE 3) – Time (1:00pm – 3:10pm) – Location (Takeover Zone 3) – Report To (Chief Zone Judge) – Age Group Event Block (Under 15)
We will need to ensure that all of these duties are filled by our parents/guardians attending each of the Age Group Event Blocks. All four duties are on track, so you will actually get to see your Little Athletes run a little closer than normal. Katy and I will send out further information in relation to our Centre Duties roster ASAP when the event timetable is released, to ensure that all of our Centre Duty obligations are met, split evenly between all of our families and to also make sure that you can all watch your Little Athletes compete in their relay events.

6.) Required Uniform
- Waverley LAC top (Shirt, Singlet or Crop Top) with COLES badge securely sewn on the top, above the LAVic logo.
- Laminated LAVic Athlete Patch with new Commonwealth Bank sticker covering the old Subway logo.

- Running shoes or waffles may be worn by all athletes. Spikes may be worn only by athletes in U/11 - U/16 events only. ALL athletes must wear appropriate footwear whilst competing.
- Socks may also be worn but must not cover the knee. They should be preferably white, black, red or match the colour of footwear worn.
7.) Other items to bring - Hat, sunscreen, full water bottle, WLAC drawstring bag, warm jacket/pants to pop on between events, spray jacket/rain coat & umbrella in case of rain, healthy snacks/snakes to keep energy levels up, canteen/raffle money, fold-up chairs or picnic rug for parents/siblings/athletes, loud voice & hands that clap rapidly to support and cheer on all of our 'WLAC' relay teams at the State Relays!
If you have any questions in the lead up to next weekend, please feel free to give me (Mark) a text/call on 0411702377.

Finally, Katy is looking to set up our 'WLAC' tents and team equipment at the track early on Saturday morning, before the U9 Age Group Event Block begins. If any early birds are up and about at this time next Saturday, it would be greatly appreciated if you could give Katy a hand, if you are able and willing to.....Similarly, at the end of the relay program on Sunday afternoon, it would be fantastic if some of our relay families could also assist with packing up our tents and equipment......Thanks in advance to all who can lend a hand at these times..... Please email Katy and I if you can support us in anyway with these tasks during set-up and when we are packing up following the event.

Thank-you all for carefully reading through all of this information and attachment, before we see you all back on track for the LAVic State Relay Championships next weekend......

Hope you all have a great weekend and catch up with you all at our 'WLAC' Presentation Night this evening.....We will then see you all at our final 'WLAC' State Relay Teams Training Session this coming Wednesday from 5pm to 6pm at Central Reserve.....

Kind Regards,

Mr Mark Robinson
