News - 2015/2016
Because Little Athletics is a totally voluntary organisation, Centres cannot operate without the assistance of parents each week in fulfilling the many and varied duties required. These include officiating at an event; managing an age group; recording results; working in the canteen; to name just a few. Additional assistance is always required on the Centre committees and all parents are encouraged to become involved. Little Athletics is one of the few sports where parents can become fully involved in their child's sporting interests.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is coming up on 5 March 2016 and is a requirement of our incorporation.
At the AGM we will be looking for people to join the committee to help keep the Waverley Little Athletics Centre running well.
We typically see a 50% turnover of the committee due to the member's children finishing their time at Little Athletics or changing work commitments.
All committee positions are declared vacant at the AGM and we often see people who want to stay on the committee move to a different role.
Training is provided for all positions and you do not need to know how to do a role to nominate for it. It is preferred that new people to a role "shadow" the existing person for a few weeks before the season ends so that they can learn the role.
The committee meets monthly - currently on the third Wednesday at 7:30pm but this can be changed by the new committee.
