News - 2010/2011
The State Relays were held on Sunday 6th Feb hosted by the Doncaster Little Athletics Centre in what was surprisingly mostly sunny conditions. The day was filled with much excitement and many impressive performances with 18 of Waverley’s teams that qualified for State Relays providing one of our Centres most successful performances in recent times.
Once again everyone stepped up and helped provide our young athletes with the support they needed to perform out on the track. A very big thank you to all the parents for completing their duties on time and without any fuss. Our fantastic Team Managers Fiona Squires and Lindsay Thomas for their pre-event organisation and support and guidance on the day. Special mentions to Dylan Cooper, Nicole & Steve Lopes for their roles as “State Key Officials” (these roles account for a portion of our duty requirements on the day and their commitment is greatly appreciated).
Thanks to our Coaches for all their efforts not only in preparing our athletes but all the other behind the scenes tasks that are required to organise and co-ordinate with the lead up events at Mentone, Box Hill & Regions. Rory Arrow (u9s), Andrew Rennie and Wendy Masters (u10s), Lindsay Harrison (u11s), Tammy Stephens (u12s) and Lindsay Thomas (u13 & up).
And lastly our athletes, every single athlete was awesome for their efforts on the track regardless of where they finished and proudly represented Waverley with their efforts and behaviour. Congratulations to all our competitors and listed below are our medallists for 2011.
