Week 8 Report
The rain held off at Bellbird Dell although we were confronted with strict Council rules that meant stakes couldn’t be used in the ground (no tents, flags or finish line banners) and no food could be sold (so the canteen and BBQ could not operate this week). These new guidelines have meant that this was probably the last time cross country will be scheduled at Bellbird Dell.
A number of our athletes were a little weary after many competed in school district competition during the week ... where many achieved very rewarding results. Congratulations and good luck in zones!
Unfortunately another one of our Waverley team members has succumbed to injury with Sophie fracturing her big toe. We will miss watching Sophie dash around the course but wish her a speedy recovery and hope that she can make a return to cross country towards the end of the season.A big thumbs up to Jordan who was the most courageous athlete at Bellbird Dell today. Jordan fell in slippery conditions near the finish line and incurred some serious muddy, painful grazes to his shoulder, legs and hands. Jordan was amazingly brave. We hope Jordan is feeling better and recovering well and we look forward to seeing him back at cross country soon. (I have a free pass to the Waverley Cinema for you Jordan when you see me next).
Congratulations to all athletes who ‘ran down’ at Bellbird Dell today.
